Contraceptive Care

Contraceptive care is essential to achieving sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and ensuring that all people can make full, free, and informed choices about whether, when, and how to have children.

EngenderHealth partners with governments, national health systems, community organizations, and providers to increase access to a full range of contraceptive options—including long-acting reversible contraceptives and permanent methods—and to improve the quality, safety, and availability of family planning services. We support clients in making informed decisions by strengthening service delivery, provider training, and client-centered counseling.

Our programs also integrate contraceptive care with other essential health services, including immunizations, HIV prevention and treatment, cancer screening, and maternal and obstetric care. To ensure lifelong reproductive health and reach young people effectively, we promote comprehensive sexuality education for in- and out-of-school youth and collaborate with partners to expand age-appropriate access to information and care.

"Contraceptive care is about choices, not prescriptions. Our role is to listen, support, and ensure everyone has access to what’s right for them."
