EngenderHealth and Promundo’s Community Engagement Manual provides a practical framework for mobilizing men and boys as allies in health promotion and gender equity, especially in HIV/AIDS programming. Using a gender-transformative approach, it addresses harmful masculinity norms, promotes men’s reproductive health, and engages men in violence prevention and caregiving. The manual includes participatory training activities, sample agendas, and tools organized around an ecological model—from individual behavior change to policy advocacy. It also introduces Community Action Teams (CATs) and guidance on messaging, alliance-building, opposition management, and campaign evaluation to foster inclusive, community-driven solutions.
