EngenderHealth Newsletter | April 2026: Action That Delivers
Action that Delivers
Over the past year, global health and development faced one of its most consequential periods in decades.
Sudden policy shifts and the dismantling of major global health programs, including USAID, disrupted systems that millions rely on for care, creating uncertainty across countries, communities, and health systems worldwide.
But last year was not defined by disruption alone. It was defined by action.

Across countries, EngenderHealth and our partners worked to keep care going, protect access, and support people’s ability to make decisions about their health.
That action helped avert more than 1.6 million unintended pregnancies and reach over 1.2 million people with contraceptive care. These results are captured in our FY2025 Annual Report.
But the story is bigger than the numbers.
Action, for EngenderHealth, is not reactive. It is deliberate and grounded in partnership, responding in moments of crisis while building durable foundations for progress.

Care doesn’t expand on its own. It takes action, new thinking, and better ways of working. Here are a few of the ideas and insights shaping reproductive healthcare today.
Delivering What Works
We know how to make pregnancy and childbirth safe. But for millions of people, that care is still out of reach.
Delivering proven solutions consistently takes stronger health systems and quality, integrated care that people can rely on when it matters most.
Closing the Gender Pay Gap
The gender pay gap is a global challenge, shaped by barriers that limit women’s opportunities at every stage of their careers.
This practical guide outlines steps organizations can take to address these gaps and translate pay data into meaningful action. It also features insights from EngenderHealth’s CEO on what it takes to move from data to results.
The Growing “Panic” Over Falling Birth Rates
Around the world, falling birth rates are fueling new debates and creating real risks for reproductive healthcare.
New analysis shows how misinformation and shifting policies could roll back progress on contraceptive care and reproductive rights, and what it will take to respond with clear, evidence-based action.

Fundraise for Reproductive Health

You can now create your own online fundraiser in just a few minutes and invite your friends and family to give to EngenderHealth. Peer-to-peer fundraising is a simple, collaborative way to help expand access to reproductive healthcare, from contraception to safer pregnancy and childbirth.
Whether you start a fundraiser for Mother’s Day, your birthday, a marathon or race you’re training for, or to honor someone important to you, you’re taking action to support reproductive health and rights and becoming a Champion for Choice.

Here are a few resources shaping conversations in global health and rights:
- Maternal mortality rises where U.S. funding falls: Cuts to family planning aid are linked to an 11% increase in deaths during pregnancy and childbirth in some countries.
- The trends shaping gender equality: WEDO’s Critical Trends Report breaks down the economic forces influencing gender equality globally.
- Climate change is not gender neutral: Climate, Gendered explores how climate change deepens inequality and why gender must be part of any serious climate response.

By donating to EngenderHealth, you help us drive impactful, gender-equitable programs that promote health, equality, and rights. Your support enables us to protect sexual and reproductive rights as fundamental human rights, ensuring that everyone has access to the care they deserve.
