The WISH P&S project is led by Palladium and implemented in consortium with EngenderHealth, Population Reference Bureau (PRB) and BBC Media Action.

WISH P&S is uniquely designed to respond to the emerging challenges and opportunities to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and Demographic Transition (DT) by providing demand-led, flexible technical assistance  on SRHR and DT by prioritizing greatest need and countries that have exited service delivery support under previous WISH programs.

WISH P&S is part of the FCDO WISH Dividend, and it builds on the successes of FCDO’s Women’s Integrated Sexual Health program, which spanned 27 countries across Africa and Asia between 2018 and 2024.

Strengthening SRHR Policy and Legal Frameworks

This project will increase the capacity of African institutions, stakeholders, and individuals to use population data to inform multi-sectoral decision making, resulting in sustainable economic growth. Additionally, the project will provide technical assistance to improve policies and legal framework to support gender equality, effective government financing, commodity security and SRHR service capacity leading to improved enabling environment for SRHR.

In collaboration with key stakeholders such as policy makers, civil society, private sector actors, media and planning and data institutions, WISH P&S will implement multi-sectoral social and communication behavior change interventions to support social norms change for SRHR, gender equity and social accountability, support transition to sub-national and facility-based capacity building and system strengthening to improve access to quality, inclusive services and enhancing ownership of an SRHR agenda.

The project will provide technical assistance to improve the capacity of countries to generate, use, and apply demographic data and evidence in policy and planning though building capacity of African institutions on DT and training CSOs and Journalists to report on population matters.

Expected Outcomes: Voice, Choice, Control, and Inclusive Human Development

We envision WISH P&S will lead to young and marginalized women, including those in humanitarian settings, having greater voice, choice, and control over their sexual and reproductive health and rights and there will be an improved enabling environment for SRH, gender equality, and human development policy.

This project will drive progress toward realizing universal sexual and reproductive health and rights and unlock the full potential of women and girls while enabling countries to harness demographic shifts with transformative and inclusive policies for human development.
