Collaborating Across Sectors

EngenderHealth recognizes that health is deeply connected to broader social and economic conditions. We take a collaborative, multi-sectoral, and intersectional approach to integrate sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) into wider development and humanitarian efforts. By partnering with government agencies, civil society, the private sector, and international organizations, we design programs that reflect the interconnected realities of people’s lives.

Choral Mauladia poses near by her cart where she sells vegetables at a local market. Street vendors face a number of difficulties, including harrassment from local officials and displacement by urban development projects. Given these threats, Choral joined the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA), a trade union that works to secure the rights of workers in the informal sector.

Our work spans sectors such as nutrition, education, WASH, climate, and economic empowerment, ensuring that SRHR is embedded in holistic responses to community needs. This includes integrating menstrual hygiene into school- and community-based programs, recognizing its critical role in adolescent health, education, and dignity. Whether responding to shocks in fragile settings or strengthening long-term development systems, we adapt our programs to the context—prioritizing equity, resilience, and locally led solutions.

We also build strong partnerships with organizations whose expertise complements our own, including those focused on HIV, food systems, and social protection. Together, we align strategies, coordinate resources, and advocate for inclusive policies so that the people we serve receive integrated, comprehensive care.

We are intentional about working at the intersections of health and development—connecting services, sectors, and systems to meet the holistic needs of the communities we serve.

True impact comes from collaboration. When we connect the dots across sectors and disciplines, we can build healthier, resource efficient, and more resilient communities where every person can thrive."
