Mozambique
An estimated 2,300 women suffer from new cases of obstetric fistula each year in Mozambique, yet access to fistula repair services remains limited across the country. Since 2017, EngenderHealth—through the USAID-funded Fistula Care Plus project—has worked to improve the quality of and access to obstetric fistula care services in Mozambique.
Fistula Care Plus strengthens the clinical capacity of selected facilities and staff as part of local organization Focus Fistula in order to provide quality obstetric, iatrogenic, and traumatic fistula surgical and non-surgical treatment services in Mozambique.
To date, Fistula Care Plus has supported more than 250 surgical fistula repairs in the country.
