How Vibha is Bringing Empathy and Real Change to Adolescent Health in Bihar, India
With support from EngenderHealth’s TARUNYA project, Vibha is transforming adolescent health in her community in Bihar. By connecting youth-friendly clinics, peer education, and local health programs, she’s helping young people feel seen, heard, and supported.
Championing Empathy and Connection in Adolescent Health
Vibha brings compassion and dedication to her role as a Block Adolescent Health Coordinator in Riga block, Sitamarhi, in Bihar, India. Supported by EngenderHealth’s TARUNYA project, she gained the training and skills to meet adolescents’ unique needs—including sexual and reproductive health, contraceptive care, emotional well-being, and guidance for navigating life’s many challenges.
Her work bridges gaps in local healthcare, turning policies and government schemes into real, tangible benefits for young people. Thanks to her efforts, peer education, adolescent health days, youth-friendly clinics, and community clubs are now more coordinated, effective, and impactful.
Professional Growth Meets Personal Transformation
Vibha’s professional journey has also shaped her personal life. As a mother, she learned to navigate her children’s challenges with empathy. The skills she gained through TARUNYA not only strengthened her career but deepened her relationships, helping her communicate with compassion and understanding.
“I’m filled with satisfaction knowing that I can empower numerous young individuals through my efforts.”
Sustaining Change for Communities
Even though TARUNYA has concluded, its legacy continues to strengthen adolescent health services in Bihar. By equipping professionals like Vibha to connect programs, clinics, and communities, the project ensured adolescents truly benefit from government schemes and health initiatives. Vibha’s work demonstrates how empathy, dedication, and training can transform lives—both for young people and those who guide them.
