EngenderHealth Previews Participation in 2022 International Conference on Family Planning in Pattaya City, Thailand

November 9, 2022 (WASHINGTON) – EngenderHealth—a global organization committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender equality—will join thousands of family planning advocates, community leaders, policymakers, researchers, scientists, and youth from around the world at the 2022 International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) 14-17 November in Pattaya City, Thailand. During the conference, EngenderHealth will showcase its expertise and experience in developing equitable, inclusive partnerships to expand access to sexual and reproductive healthcare, including family planning (FP).

ICFP 2022 comes as the world is emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, responding to international conflicts, contending with financial instability, and confronting the climate crisis, all of which impact FP and SRHR. The conference is a reminder of the critical nature of FP and SRHR and their linkages to other vital issues including climate change, food insecurity, gender equality, and socioeconomic inequality, among others.

“In a post-Roe era, with increasing pressures on health, economic, and social systems worldwide, we need a united community committed to ensuring all people have full access to SRHR, including comprehensive contraceptive care and comprehensive abortion care,” said Traci L. Baird, EngenderHealth president and CEO. “ICFP brings together that community of activists, advocates, and experts to learn from one another and build relationships that strengthen this vital work.”

The ICFP community is dedicated to advocating for FP and SRHR for all and ensuring it remains central to efforts to build resilient health systems and achieve universal health coverage (UHC). This goal can only be reached through the power of partnerships and the continued commitment to shift power to local decision-makers and elevate the voices of those most affected by these issues.

That is why EngenderHealth is participating in ICFP, where we will focus on amplifying our work in Ethiopia, India, Tanzania, and West and Central Africa supporting youth SRHR, ensuring access to inclusive FP services, responding to and preventing gender-based violence, and more; fostering transformational change across the sector toward more equitable, resilient, and accountable development through the TIME for SRHR initiative; developing relationships with community-based organizations, national technical working groups, national and local civil society organizations, and others dedicated to these issues; and advocating for investments in SRHR as a central component of primary health care and resilient health systems.
