FP2020 enlists support from EngenderHealth experts

As we approach the one-year anniversary of the London Summit on Family Planning, EngenderHealth is honored to announce that two of our esteemed colleagues have been selected as core members of the newly formed Family Planning 2020 (FP2020) Working Groups—Bangladesh Project Director and Country Representative, Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel, and Board Member Dr. Sara Seims.

A global partnership that supports the right of women and girls to decide freely whether, when, and how many children they want to have, FP2020 describes its Working Groups as “instrumental in guiding and delivering on the global effort to reach 120 million more women and girls in the world’s poorest countries with access to lifesaving contraceptive information, services and supplies by 2020.”

  • Dr. Faisel will serve on the Country Engagement Working Group, which is designed to facilitate access to funding, technical assistance, and country-to-country support for transformational, country-owned family planning programs.
  • Appointed to the Performance Monitoring & Accountability WorkingGroup, Dr. Seims will assist in the integral data collection and analysis necessary to bolster accountability for implementing financial, policy, and programming commitments.

EngenderHealth looks forward to playing a significant role in the FP2020 Working Groups to advance the goal of helping women and girls gain greater access to contraceptive services and supplies. To read the FP2020 Working Group announcement in its entirety, please click here.
