EngenderHealth Moves Global Headquarters to Washington, DC
July 19, 2018 (Washington, DC) — EngenderHealth, a global women’s health and sexual and reproductive rights organization, today announced that it has relocated its headquarters office to Washington, DC. The move from New York to DC is part of the organization’s strategic plan to better position itself to continue advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights around the world. Approximately 50 of 600 EngenderHealth employees around the world will work in the DC office.
“We are known for our work in communities and countries around the world, aligning with governments and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality reproductive health, family planning, and maternal health services and to implement programs addressing related issues such as gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS,” said Rosemary Ellis, EngenderHealth’s Interim President and CEO. “As we build on 75 years of achievements in women’s health and our reputation for technical expertise, we see our continued success being driven by a rights-based approach to our mission. We will continue to work with partners to deliver key health services–and also to shape the strategies and conversations that help expand rights for women and girls worldwide.”
Ellis continued, “Women’s and girls’ rights cannot be fully realized until they are able to choose if, when, and how many children to have. When they have the ability to make those choices, their opportunities and power increase. They are more likely to stay in school longer, and to increase their ability to generate income, support their families, and contribute to their communities. In other words, realizing the fundamental human right for a woman or a girl to have control over her own body is not only good for her, but also good for her family and her community.
“Being based in Washington will allow us to work more closely with our many partners here as we collectively make the case that family planning is a human right.”
EngenderHealth moved its headquarters to Washington this summer. The new office is located at:
505 9th St, NW
Washington, DC 20004
