Dr. Jimmy Nzau Joins EngenderHealth as Senior Director, Clinical Family Planning & Reproductive Health

August 14, 2024 (WASHINGTON)—EngenderHealth is excited to announce that Dr. Jimmy Nzau has joined the organization’s Technical Leadership Team as the Senior Director, Clinical Family Planning and Reproductive Health. Jimmy brings more than 20 years of experience in family planning, sexual and reproductive health, and reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health programming.

As the Senior Director of Clinical Family Planning and Reproductive Health, Jimmy will lead the EngenderHeath family planning and reproductive health portfolio that spans multiple countries and covers contraception, comprehensive postabortion care, maternal health, cervical cancer, and fistula prevention and repair. He will provide technical expertise in developing technical approaches to increase access to high-quality family planning and reproductive health services for all people of reproductive age—including adolescents, young parents, and underserved or marginalized populations—and their implementation across project interventions in fragile settings. He will also lead the organization’s approach to clinical governance and quality assurance across the health systems in which EngenderHealth operates.

Jimmy is a physician and global health practitioner with more than 20 years of experience at global, regional, and national levels in both the humanitarian and international development sectors. His expertise includes health system strengthening; quality of care; reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH); family planning; adolescent health and development; gender-based violence; comprehensive abortion care; cervical cancer prevention; sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV; climate and health; and gender-transformative approaches.

“We are thrilled to have Jimmy join our team, as we work to enhance service delivery, advocate for supportive enabling environments, work with local partners, and support policy change in our commitment to supporting individuals in making free, informed decisions about sexuality and childbearing so they can live the lives they want,” said Sekai Chikowero, Vice President of Programs at EngenderHealth. “Jimmy’s expertise and leadership will ensure that every client that accesses information or services through an EngenderHealth-supported intervention receives the highest quality of care and that all of our programs are delivered with technical distinction and with the potential of scale and sustainability.”

Jimmy graduated from the University of Kinshasa’s School of Medicine, holds a Master of Public Health from Emory University, and a post-graduate diploma in health promotion from Nancy University in France. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Environmental Health at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Jimmy is fluent in French, English, and several African languages.

Jimmy lives in Georgia, where he spends his free time gardening in his backyard and supporting his son’s basketball team.
