When asked to characterize my work or leadership style, I have long said that I place emphasis on the how of the mission-driven work I do. The what, where, why, and who of the work are critically important, of course, but I have observed and felt that the how often gets left behind.

Like all people of good will, we watched in horror last week the news of murders of eight people, including six Asian American women, in the Atlanta area. There are no words that adequately express our sadness, dismay, anger, and yet lack of surprise that, yet again, immigrants and women of color have been murdered, and their families and loved ones are suffering, because of the racism and sexism endemic in American society.
