The CHAMPION Project’s “Be a Role Model” Videos

This trio of award-winning ads are from the “Be a Role Model” campaign against gender-based violence, produced by the CHAMPION Project in Tanzania. Each one is in Swahili with English subtitles.

EngenderHealth leads the CHAMPION Project, an innovative five-year initiative to increase men’s involvement in preventing the spread of HIV in Tanzania. Supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the project takes a holistic approach to HIV prevention and addresses the underlying gender issues that drive HIV transmission.

In 2013, the CHAMPION Project’s campaign against gender-based violence (of which these videos are a part) won the 2nd Avon Communications Awards: Speaking Out About Violence Against Women.
