EngenderHealth Highlights its Commitment to Sexual and Reproductive Rights
World Population Day 2018 Statement
July 11, 2018 (Washington, DC) Today, on World Population Day, activists, communities, governments, and organizations come together around the rallying cry “Family Planning is a Human Right.” EngenderHealth marked the occasion with the following statement from Interim President and CEO, Rosemary Ellis.
“Fifty years ago, at the 1968 International Conference on Human Rights, the world for the first time affirmed that everyone, everywhere has the right to freely and responsibly determine the number and spacing of children they have. Five decades later, EngenderHealth continues working to make that right a reality for girls and women around the world.
“Amidst growing challenges to women’s freedom to choose if, when, and how many children to have, EngenderHealth reaffirms our commitment to creating transformative, sustainable change by increasing awareness that sexual and reproductive rights are human rights. For girls and women to be able to reach their full potentials, we know that they must be empowered to exercise their human rights. For that reason, EngenderHealth is dedicated to delivering high-quality sexual, reproductive, and maternal health services and training.
“Standing alongside partners around the world who recognize that family planning is a human right, we know that we can work together to realize that right and create a future in which women and girls are free to pursue their own visions for their lives and their families.”
EngenderHealth is committed to creating transformative, sustainable change by delivering high-quality sexual, reproductive, and maternal health services; expanding access to information and training; and advancing acceptance of sexual and reproductive rights as human rights. To achieve this vision, EngenderHealth collaborates with governments, private sector partners, international experts, and local organizations and communities around the world to deliver programs that give girls and women freedom to reach their full potentials. www.engenderhealth.orgEngenderHealth girls human rights Latest News press women world population day
