Tips and Educational Activities
Encourage your staff or supervisors
to develop a sensitivity toward issues related to sexuality in service
delivery by:
- Holding staff orientations.
Everyone at your facility—from doormen to receptionists, to medical
staff, to administrators—is part of the team at your site. All
staff at a facility benefit from periodic orientations to basic clinic
services and critical topics such as sexuality and sexual health.
- Raising staff awareness.
Identify colleagues working in the area of gender and sexuality, and
invite them to meet with your staff to help raise staff awareness of
gender and sexuality. Use this as a first step for enhancing the client-responsiveness
of service you deliver, with support from supervision.
- Being a good role model.
You can set a good example. Model good behavior during the course
of your day, and encourage your staff and colleagues to do the same.
