Case StudiesThese case studies are designed to be completed after you have studied the content in each module, but you can complete them at any time you feel ready. Case studies allow you to apply what you have learned in this course to real-world situations. Case Study #1:Comfort is a newly married woman coming to you with a concern. She never had sex before marriage. She confides in you that her husband thinks that something is wrong with her because she gets very wet during sex. He told her that it is not normal, women are supposed to be dry. What can you tell her? What might you consider doing to further assist
Comfort? Case Study #2:Sonia is postmenopausal at
age 57, and her husband David is 67. Recently, Sonia has noticed that
David has been taking longer to achieve an erection, and his erection
is not as firm as it used to be. When she mentions this at her visit for
a Pap smear, what do you tell her?
Case Study #3:Brigitte and her same-sex
partner are both age 55. Brigitte has not yet reached menopause but has
begun noticing that her partner, who is postmenopausal, no longer seems
sexually interested and does not initiate sexual encounters anymore, though
she does respond to Brigittes initiative and is satisfied when they
have sex. Brigitte wants to know if they will no longer have a sex life
when she reaches her own menopause. What can you tell Brigitte? What might
you do for Brigitte and her partner? Case Study #4:Salim has been recovering
from a heart attack that he had four months ago. Salim confides in you
that his partner has been avoiding having sex. After pressing the issue,
his partner admits to being very afraid that sex will cause another heart
attack. What can you tell Salim? What might you do for Salim and his partner?
