AVSC Tops Charity Ratings

At AVSC, we believe in spending our money on programs. In 1999, 84.8% of our funds was spent on program services, while 13.9% covered administrative costs and only 1.3% went to fundraising. Your generous gifts go directly to the programs where they are needed most.

Charity "watchdog" organizations approve of our spending habits:

  • AVSC received the highest rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy Charity Rating Guide.
  • AVSC meets or exceeds all Better Business Bureau standards of the New York Philanthropic Advisory Service.
  • AVSC meets the nine standards of the National Charities Information Bureau.

Since the mid-1990s, AVSC has made a concerted effort to diversify our funding base. This will allow us to provide innovative programming and work in countries that do not receive funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It will also help us protect against the increasing unpredictability of U.S. government funding for family planning.

Your gifts are critically important to AVSC's ability to achieve our mission. We want you to know that we use your money wisely and well. Please be as generous as you can. Thank you.
