Gender Matters / Gen.M
Teen pregnancy prevention program in Austin, Texas
Gender Matters (or "Gen.M") is a teen pregnancy prevention program in Austin, Texas, that reaches youth ages 14-16. As a five-day workshop, Gen.M examines gender messages, healthy relationships, teen parenting, sexual decision-making, and ways to prevent pregnancy and STIs.
EngenderHealth launched the 5-year Gender Matters project in 2011, with support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and in partnership with Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, SafePlace, and the Travis County Summer Youth Employment Program. Gender Matters builds on EngenderHealth's pioneering work with men across 26 countries through the Gender & Men As Partners program.
