Thank You, Secretary Clinton

On January 8, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech stating in the strongest terms that the United States is committed to helping achieve universal access to reproductive health. We thank Secretary Clinton for this recommitment, and suggest that you send her a thank-you note as well via the State Department web site.  Use the text below, or develop your own.  Thank you!

Dear Secretary Clinton,

I am a strong supporter of reproductive health, and am writing to applaud your statement of January 8 voicing our country's firm commitment to this important issue and to achievement of the ICPD goals and other UN aims such as the Millennium Development Goals.

As you are aware, for more than 10 years, U.S. political and financial support for international reproductive health has lagged: While the 2010 federal budget allocated a small increase, we have a long way to go to reach the $1 billion mark, which would help bring family planning and reproductive health care to hundreds of millions of women who need these vital services. I hope that the United States will continue to increase our investments in women and women's health around the world. Thank you for your leadership on this issue!

Sincerely,
(Your name)
