| Clean walls | Wipe with a disinfectant (0.5% chlorine) solution after each client, if walls may have become contaminated during client care. | Wipe with a disinfectant cleaning solution at the end of each day. |
| Clean ceilings | Wipe with a disinfectant cleaning solution at least once each week (or more often, if necessary). | |
| Clean chairs, lamps, tabletops, and counters | Wipe with a disinfectant (0.5% chlorine) solution after each client, for any surface that may have become contaminated with blood or body fluids during client care. | Wipe using a cloth saturated with a disinfectant cleaning solution at least once each day. |
| Clean floors | Clean using a mop dampened with a disinfectant cleaning solution at least once each day (or more often, if necessary). | |
| Clean sinks | Scrub with a disinfectant cleaning solution and rinse with clean water each day (or more often, if necessary). | |
| Clean waste containers | Scrub to remove soil or organic material with a disinfectant cleaning solution each day (or more often, if necessary). | |
| Empty waste containers | Each day (or more often, if necessary). | |
| Remove dust and lint that has accumulated overnight from all horizontal surfaces | Wipe with a water-dampened cloth or mop each morning. | |
Remember:
- Always wear gloves when cleaning this area.
- Use different mops and cloths when cleaning this area than those you use to clean toilets, latrines, and sluice rooms.
