Because using alcohol alone tends to dry the skin, it is best to use an alcohol handrub solution. To prepare an alcohol handrub solution, add together:
2 ml of glycerine, propylene glycol, or sorbitol
and
100 ml of 60-90% alcohol
To use an alcohol handrub solution:
- Step 1
Pour 3-5 ml of alcohol handrub solution into the palm of your hand. - Step 2
Rub hands together until they are dry.
