Gloving

Case Studies

Making It Work

Gloves provide a barrier against potentially infectious microorganisms that can be found in blood, other body fluids, and waste.

This module provides an overview of the three different types of gloves and their importance in infection prevention.

Objectives
When you complete this module, you should be able to:

  • Name the three different types of gloves used in health facilities
  • Identify the correct gloves to use for different activities
  • Explain the advantages and disadvantages of double gloving

Remember!
Wash your hands whenever removing any type of gloves. The gloves may have tiny holes or tears that leave the potential for exposure to contaminated blood and other body fluids.
