Janice Hansen Zakin, M.D.

Dr. Janice Hansen Zakin is a physician and active community volunteer.
She was raised in Hawaii, where she became a registered nurse, a nurse
anesthetist, and then a physician. She graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from
the University of Hawaii John A. Burns Medical School, in the top 10% of
her class and recipient of multiple academic awards. She is board
certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a Fellow in the American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She had an active and
successful practice and was frequently featured as a community speaker
and resource for the local media on health-related issues. She also ran a
volunteer clinic on the island of Lanai, providing free contraception
and obstetric and gynecologic care island-wide. Since moving to San
Francisco in 1999, she has been actively involved with the San Francisco
community. She is an avid volunteer and supporter at the San Francisco
Free Clinic, where she is in charge of gynecologic care, and is also on
the Board of Trustees of the San Francisco Ballet and the American Red
Cross.
